Three Levels of Surface Work

Each service is scoped to the condition of the piece. Work begins only after the case is inspected and the scope is agreed with you in writing.

Light Polish & Brushed Refresh

For cases and bracelets with ordinary daily wear. Satin surfaces are reworked grain-by-grain to match factory direction; polished panels are hand-buffed. Bevels and engravings are preserved throughout. Suitable for stainless steel, titanium, and gold-filled cases.

SVC-02

Bracelet Stretch & Link Adjustment

Addresses side play and worn articulation in older bracelets. Each link is inspected; pins and screws are replaced where needed. Clasp mechanisms are cleaned and reassembled. Resizing and micro-adjust link addition also available where the specification supports it.

Full Case Restoration Bench Work

An extended project for cases with substantial wear, deep scratches, or dings — often heirloom pieces or watches from long storage. A written plan is agreed before work begins. Bevels are redefined, brushed grains recreated by hand, polished panels reworked with proportions maintained throughout.

Watch case refinishing is easy to do badly and difficult to undo. The differences between a well-executed surface and an over-polished one show immediately under a loupe — and remain visible for the life of the piece.

Assessment Before Action

Every piece is inspected under magnification before a screwdriver touches the case. What the workshop can do, and what it cannot, is stated clearly in writing.

Original Grain Matched

Factory satin brushing has a direction and depth. The workshop selects grain pads to match rather than reworking surfaces to a generic finish that softens case lines.

Hand Work, Not Machine Buffing

Polished panels and brushed flanks are finished by hand. Machine polishing removes metal indiscriminately; hand work focuses only on what needs attention.

Transparent Scope

For restoration projects, no work proceeds beyond the agreed written plan. Changes are communicated and confirmed before they happen — not discovered on the invoice.

Proportion Preserved

Bevels and edges define a case's character. The workshop works to maintain the original geometry rather than rounding or softening features that should remain sharp.

Workshop Notes Provided

Each completed piece leaves with a short written note describing the work done and any areas where preservation was chosen over polishing — useful for the piece's long-term record.

Common Questions

Before You Drop Off Your Watch

Answers to questions the workshop hears most often from first-time clients.

Do I need to remove the movement before bringing the case?
No. The workshop handles only the case and bracelet exterior — the movement stays inside the case throughout. If there is a reason to open the case as part of the inspection, this is discussed with you beforehand and no caseback is opened without your agreement.
Can all scratch types be addressed by polishing?
Most surface scratches on steel, titanium, and gold-filled cases respond well to the appropriate service level. Deep gouges, dings, or damage near sapphire crystal gaskets require bench work and are assessed individually. The workshop is upfront about what it can and cannot address before any work begins.
Will polishing affect the watch's collector or resale value?
This depends entirely on the piece and the collector context. For everyday wear watches, a well-executed refresh preserves the piece and is generally well regarded. For vintage or production-limited pieces where patina is part of the appeal, the workshop will discuss this with you candidly — and in some cases may recommend preservation over polishing.
How long does the Light Polish service take?
The Light Polish and Brushed Refresh service typically takes one week from the point of drop-off. The Bracelet Adjustment runs one to two weeks. Full Case Restoration bench work is a four-to-six week project due to the scope of hand work involved. The workshop will confirm the expected timeframe at drop-off and communicate any changes.
Is a deposit required when I leave the watch?
For Light Polish and Bracelet services, payment is made at collection. For Full Case Restoration projects — given the four-to-six week scope — a 50% deposit is taken when the written work plan is confirmed. Details are discussed at drop-off.
Do you work on bracelet-only pieces without the watch?
Yes. The Bracelet Stretch and Link Adjustment service can be carried out on a bracelet brought in separately from the watch head. The assessment and work process is the same — inspection first, then a written scope before work proceeds.
